Angie graduated from IUPUI with a Masters Certificate in Nonprofit Management. At Starfish Initiative, she combines her love of working with the community and her passion for higher education. She is fluent in Spanish, and her love of different cultures led her to spend a lot of time traveling and volunteering in Central America and Europe. In her free time, she can frequently be spotted on the Salsa dancing floor where she met the love of her life, Josiah.

Sheniese received a Masters degree in Human Resources from Central Michigan University and a B.A. from Ball State. She is a native Hoosier, but lived a number of years in Michigan. While there, she gained experience in 401K administration and insurance sales. In another life, Sheniese would have been a ballet dancer.

Rodney joined Starfish in 2010. He grew up in west-central Indiana and graduated from Wabash College in 2008. He enjoys working alongside others in the effort to show youth their potential, so he is excited to be at Starfish. He also enjoys playing sports, working on a farm, and losing to his wife, Vanessa, at every board game known to man.

Betsy brings more than 25 years of experience managing organizational change and growth. A former COO of an Indiana non-profit organization, Betsy has a solid track record of developing practical solutions and facilitating operations for organizations poised to grow. She earned a BS from Iowa State University and has completed graduate courses in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at IUPUI. Betsy, her husband, and their two sons can’t get enough of reading, snow skiing, and traveling. Betsy loves cooking for family and friends. And her family and friends love it, too.

Chris has an undergraduate degree from the University of Indianapolis and earned his MBA there, as well. He brings to Starfish significant fundraising experience in the non-for-profit sector, including work with organizations as varied as the UIndy athletic department and Progress House. He enjoys watching the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana University basketball and spending time with friends and family. Chris resides on the south side of Indianapolis.

At the age of twelve, Jheny and her family immigrated from Mexico and settled in Michigan. Jheny moved to Indianapolis in 2010 after studying social work and women's studies at Goshen College. Jheny believes that empowerment and education are two necessary tools to bring about social change and organization among under-served communities. She and Julio are parents to two adorable kids. She enjoys meeting other Spanish speakers, arts and crafts, and thrift store shopping.

Nancy has spent most of her adult life in southern Indiana teaching high school and raising 4 children.  She also brings experience in social service, helping youth transition from the foster care system.  Singing in a women’s chorus, watercolor painting, gardening and travel are activities she enjoys alongside another favorite – working with older teens.  

Jeff feels lucky to be doing something that directly benefits area youth and at the same time helps grow the economy and business community of his home state. Formerly a labor and employment attorney, Jeff left the practice of law for a more gratifying career in nonprofit development, marketing, and PR. He stays one step ahead of his five children just north of Indianapolis.

Christina graduated in 2010 from Biola University with a BA in Journalism. After serving for a year as an AmeriCorps VISTA at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis she became hooked on non-profits. Combining her passion for youth and education, Christina joined the Starfish staff in June. In her free time, Christina enjoys planning her wedding, being outside and watching college basketball.
