Since Starfish Scholar Amber is interested in pursuing a career in the fashion industry, her Mentor Robyn was able to arrange a volunteer assignment for her at the Perfect Wedding Guide’s Platinum Wedding Gala on January 13 at the Conrad Indianapolis.
The event benefited Wish Upon a Wedding, a nonprofit organization that provides weddings to couples facing terminal illness and serious life altering circumstances. The event, attracting more than 150 guests, showcased 25 elite wedding vendors and a fashion show of 18 gowns from the Birnbaum & Bullock collection.
Amber assisted with the many wedding gown changes; there were 4 models and 18 dresses, so she stayed busy! Each wardrobe change also included new shoes, veil, jewelry and accessories.
Robyn Cochran arranged for the opportunity with the Conrad hotel’s Wedding & Social Expert, who was heavily involved in the gala, as well as the local Wish Upon a Wedding chapter. This contact helped secure Amber’s participation for the evening.
“The opportunity was educational for Amber in several ways,” Robyn said. “The fashion industry is high intensity and it takes a lot of effort to make fashion shows look flawless. She had a great time, but was exhausted afterwards.”
