Mentor Celebration Night Was: (A) Delicious, (B) Funny, (C) Sporty, (D) All the Above!

February 8, 2010 – A big, big thank you to all the mentors who joined us to celebrate all the hard work you do. The Conseco Fieldhouse Entry Pavilion provided a fun backdrop to an evening of great company, great desserts (we’ve never seen cake sliced so generously) and a local Emmy-nominated improv group called IndyProv.

We saw mentors exchanging pointers, new Scholar Specialists meeting mentors face-to-face for the first time, and Director of Scholar Services Jimmy “squirrel!” Graves on the hot seat during the improv. We doled out a nice grouping of doorprizes (Bob, enjoy the Conrad; and Beth, have fun at Holiday World).

Our small token to our wonderful mentors this year was a fun orange mug featuring some of the visual swirls on the Starfish mural in our lounge and – of course – the Starfish icon! Proudly display the mug at work, ladies and gentlemen, and recruit more fine men and women like yourselves to be mentors.

And thank you again – all of you – for the important work you are doing. Without you and people like you, we would not be able to help our Scholars. We would be honored to talk with your friends and neighbors who you feel have the “right stuff” to be mentors. Send them our way!
