Philip Steals the Show at our 3rd Annual “Starfish Story” Fundraising Breakfast

October 5, 2009 – Junior Starfish Scholar Philip Moreland and his mentor Mike Pudleiner’s banter charmed our guests at the 3rd Annual “Starfish Story” Fundraising Breakfast October 1 at the Sheraton Circle Center Hotel in downtown Indianapolis. Close to 500 friends attended the event and enjoyed Philip and Mike’s gentle ribbing about basketball ability and driving skills. The Scholar/mentor pair also talked seriously about the benefits each receives from their relationship.

Starfish alum Nick Werle (now a sophomore at I.U. studying business) emceed the event and current Scholars Armon Siadat, Braydon Jefferson, and Ronnie Lashbrook creatively presented the “Starfish Story” in words and pantomime. Starfish Board Vice Chair Larry Smith and Executive Director Joyce Johnson also spoke.

Attendees heard some incredible jazz during breakfast, provided by Starfish Scholar and high school junior Kwame Newton and his band, The Midtown Wave.
